Adobe Illustrator CD Label Template

Problem:
When I bring up the CD label template in Adobe Illustrator, the dotted line that represents the “print area/page margins” has shifted and the labels do not print correctly.

Reason:
We are still unsure exactly why this happens; Adobe Illustrator sometimes randomly shifts the print area around.

Solution:
Use the Page Tool to put the “print area/page margin” back in its proper place.

The Page Tool adjusts the page grid to control where artwork appears on the printed page. (See your instruction manual to learn how to select the Page Tool)

Adjusting the “print area/page margin” using the Page Tool:

1. Select the Page Tool. (See instruction manual.) The pointer becomes a dotted cross when you move it to the active window.

2. Click anywhere on the document and drag. As you drag, the Page Tool responds as if you were moving the page from its lower left corner. Two gray rectangles are displayed. The outer rectangle represents the page size, and the inner rectangle represents the printable area of the page. Drag the page so that the outer rectangle is centered on your document.

3. Print a test CD label on a sheet of letter size typing paper to see if the label prints correctly.

4. Adjust if necessary.

5. Save your modified document. The changes that you made will be saved with your document. Use this as your new master template.
